Longan fruit in syrup. Its name (from Chinese lóng yǎn) translates as "dragon's eye" because peeled from the shell it resembles an eyeball, with a clearly visible black stone in the center that shines through the flesh.
Longan resembles lychee in appearance and taste and is a common ingredient in desserts and drinks in Asia. Being rich in vitamin C, vitamin A, B vitamins, vitamins K, D and E it is a healthy addition to many desserts.
